Single Pole Cam Connectors and Positive-Latching Cam Connectors
Single Pole Cam Connectors and Positive-Latching Cam Connectors are UL and cUL listed for United States and Canada Standards with a NEMA 4 rating, Flame Rating V-O can be mated with Crouse Hinds and Leviton brand Connectors. Attachment Plugs and Cord Connectors that are certified using the UL 1691 standard employing irreversible tool-applied crimp-type connection or set-screw type pressure wire connector terminals are in compliance with the UL 486A/B as defined in the reference below (UL 1691 Section 13.7).
13.7 Attachment plugs and connectors employing either an irreversible tool-applied crimp-type connection or set-screw type pressure wire connector terminals shall comply with NMX-J-543-ANCE/CSA C22.2 No. 65/UL 486A-486B.
Binational standard UL 1691/CSA 1691-12 was created in 2012, well after Optnavinst 11310.3B (spelling out the UL486a requirement in Section 7.3c) was written (Jan 12th, 2007).
UL 486a testing applies to the type of and security of crimp. Any similar cam-type latching devices from any manufacturer approved under UL486a elsewhere before the creation of UL 1691, has since had their listing updated to, and will only be recognized as UL 1691 at this point, per UL.
