Duraline 518 Series High Power Connectors: Built for Demanding Environments
JBN Duraline’s 518 Series High Power Connectors are trusted by professionals across a range of industries that demand high performance, rugged durability, and absolute reliability. Made in the USA and designed with innovative features that simplify connection and increase safety, the 518 Series is a standout solution for high-amperage, high-voltage applications.
A Smarter Way to Connect Power
At the core of the 518 Series is a patented 360-degree ball-and-socket locking collet that eliminates the need for specific alignment during mating. Unlike traditional connectors that rely on keyed or cammed systems, the 518 Series allows the male and female ends to connect in any rotational orientation. The integrally molded collet on the male end locks into the ball-nose of the female, while a sliding locking ring increases retention strength once engaged.
This design eliminates frustration during installation and prevents issues with cable twisting or misalignment. Even with stiff or heavy-duty cables, the connector can be easily mated and rotated without strain, while still achieving a secure, positive lock.
High Voltage and High Amperage Capabilities
The 518 Series is suitable for both AC and DC applications and supports current levels ranging from 50 to 1000 amps, with voltage ratings up to 5kV. Standard configurations use 600-volt cables, but options are available for 1kV, 2kV, and 5kV depending on the requirements of the project. For higher amperage needs, multiple connectors can be installed in a multi-gang housing or panel, allowing total outputs such as 2000 amps or more.
Each connector is made to order based on your project’s exact specifications, including voltage, amperage, cable size, and color coding for phase identification. Watertight when mated and equipped with protective caps, the connectors are well-suited for harsh environments that involve washdowns or exposure to moisture.
Engineered for Tough Conditions
Constructed with molded rubber bodies and caps, copper alloy contacts, and durable plastic locking rings, the 518 Series is built to handle repeated use in physically demanding settings. The design holds up under pressure cleaning, heavy handling, and exposure to oils or debris.
These connectors are widely used in power generation, transportation, industrial, and military sectors. Their ability to perform reliably under stress makes them a smart choice for power plants, railroad systems, oil platforms, refineries, tunnels, construction zones, and naval ships. They are also suitable for nuclear applications and can be manufactured to meet IEEE-383 Class 1E requirements as well.
Product Variants
The 518 Micro Series is designed for lighter-duty applications with current needs between 50 and 150 amps. It offers a retention force of 100 lbs and can be molded to cable sizes ranging from #8 to #4 AWG. Learn more at 518 Micro Series Connectors.
The 518 Jr Series supports up to 300 amps and features a stronger retention force of 150 lbs. It can be molded to #4 to #1 AWG and 1/0 to 3/0 DLO cable sizes. Details are available at 518 Jr Series Connectors.
For more intensive applications, the 518 Sr Series supports up to 1000 amps and can be configured into multi-gang panels for even greater output. Each unit is built to the customer’s unique requirements to ensure optimal performance and compatibility.
